Mr. Draper, born and raised in central Massachusetts, graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Business in 1978. Mr. Draper was a member of the UCONN Division I football team for four years and was named an Academic All-American. Mr. Draper received his J.D. in 1982 from Gonzaga University School of Law in Spokane, Washington, and he earned his L.L.M. in Taxation and International Business in 1983 from McGeorge School of Law, in Sacramento and the University of Salzburg, Austria.
After an internship with one of Scotland's largest solicitors, Mr. Draper returned to California where his practice centers upon commercial litigation and trials in the federal and state courts. Mr. Draper's practice involves the representation of creditors in the bankruptcy courts, real estate transactions and litigation, the enforcement and defense of contracts, suretyship, construction (where he has first hand trade experience), products liability, trademark protection and the litigation of claims of unfair business practices. Mr Draper has tried over 70 cases to judgment and has significant jury trial experience. Mr. Draper's cases have allowed him to practice in Washington, Utah, Texas, Michigan and Massachusetts.
Mr. Draper is admitted to the California Bar, to all of the Federal District Courts located in California, the court of claims in Washington, D.C., the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States. Mr. Draper is a pro tem arbitrator and settlement judge in the Santa Clara Superior Court and has been a pro tem civil judge in the San Mateo Municipal Court since 1989. He has lectured on the effects of bankruptcy procedure on mass tort litigation to the California Consumer Attorney's Association, and risk management to the Hospitality Management and Law Institute. Mr. Draper has lectured for several years across the country on discovery and procedure for electronic discovery of computer documents and records. Many of Mr. Draper's forms and procedures have become industry standards in this area.
